Sinn Spezialuhren celebrate its 50th Anniversary (1961-2011)

Sinn Spezialuhren zu Frankfurt am Main is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2011. In the past five decades the company has grown to become a nationally and internationally renowned manufacturer of high-quality mechanical watches. Helmut Sinn, an instructor for blind flight and former World War II pilot, founded the company "Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren" in 1961. Originally, the company concentrated exclusively on navigation clocks and pilot chronographs. From the very outset Sinn Spezialuhren relied on direct sales and eschewed extensive advertising campaigns. In a relatively short time, the company became an insider's tip within the industry – thanks primarily to word-of-mouth advertising. SINN entered a new era in terms of technology, innovation and strategy when engineer Lothar Schmidt took over the company in 1994. Today, the name SINN stands for highly functional mechanical watches valued by pilots, divers and the elite GSG 9 special forces unit – as well as by "normal" customers. Thanks to numerous technologies developed by Lothar Schmidt, including DIAPAL, HYDRO, TEGIMENT-Technology and Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, SINN watches prove again and again that they are sturdy and robust even under extreme conditions. Their quality and precision also make them suitable for everyday use. The development and design of SINN watches are consistent with the functionality demanded of them.
